Dentist and staff in huddleIf it seems like your dental practice is chaotic and unorganized, there may be a problem with how you’ve been conducting your morning huddles. It’s important not to underestimate the value of conducting staff huddles each morning and, as a result, their staff, dental practice, and patients may suffer.

If you’re unsure of what to include in your morning huddles, we’ve included a few key points below:

  • Set concrete goals, targets, and quotas for the week
  • Review progress on current goals and targets
  • Lastly, review the important numbers for the day, week, or month

You also want to give each member of your staff time to discuss any questions or concerns they may be having as well as an update on any goals they need to meet. This will help each member of your staff to feel motivated and take ownership over their position.

Tips for Morning Huddles

Below are a few helpful tips for conducting productive and successful morning huddles with your team:

  • Review information for the patients scheduled for the day.
  • Determine open appointment slots for emergencies or any patients who could be added to the schedule as needed.
  • Identify the patients who need X-rays, either for routine treatment or as part of a treatment plan.
  • Discuss the financial information for the patients on the schedule and go over payment arrangements that may be necessary.
  • Determine the number of major procedures necessary to stay on target for the week.
  • Track weekly and monthly goals vs. actual numbers for the dentist, collections, and hygiene.
  • Identify goals for the day and allow each member of the staff time to discuss his or her own goals and targets.

At CTC National, we know how important morning huddles are to your practice. Your office will run more smoothly, your staff will work better together, and goals will be identified and met more successfully.
