How to Market to Your Current Dental Patients

A+ A- A Main Content

3 WomenFor dental professionals who are beginning to create a dental practice marketing plan, you’re probably discovering that there’s no shortage of options to market your practice. Google AdWords, social media, and even postcard mailers and newspaper ads.

When putting together a marketing plan, it’s actually best to start inside the walls of your own dental office. Selling to your current dental patients is easier and cheaper than attempting to bring in new ones. Your current patients will always have dental needs, whether it’s a dental disease, cosmetic improvements, or even a cleaning and a checkup. They already know you and your staff and feel a loyalty to your office.

Marketing to Current Dental Patients

Below are a few of the areas that can have the highest impact on your practice profitability:

  • Relationship – Maintaining a relationship with your dental patients is a great way to remain on their radar. Organizing an outreach program for your dormant or inactive patients can be quite successful. We suggest birthday cards, special promotions for patients, or holiday-related postcards.
  • Patient Experience – The best form of marketing is learning how to create a positive experience for each and every patient. Greet your patients with a smile, make sure your front office runs smoothly and on time, and provide quality dental care. This will keep your patients coming back and may even lead to some referrals.
  • Re-Care – Re-care can be the lifeline of your practice. Ensuring that you see every patient at least twice a year for their cleanings and checkups is what will build your schedule. Average patient recall is around 10-11 months, so it’s important to create a strategy to keep your hygiene schedule full. This can include timely communication, better staff training, appointment reminders, and pre-scheduling.

Here at CTC National, we know how difficult it can be to run a dental practice. From the business aspects, patient care, and training a competent staff, you can have your hands full.
