Conducting Performance Reviews With Your Team
Main Content
Many dentists have questions regarding performance reviews with their teams. Once wage-related issues have been discussed, it can be difficult to know what else should be covered during the review.
Employee performance reviews can be a great time to learn more about each individual member of your team. By taking the time to gather information about the people in your office, you can help improve the relationships between yourself and your team, strengthening your dental practice.
What To Cover During Employee Performance Reviews
Before covering anything, it might be a good idea to ask your team members how they would prefer to receive feedback or how they learn the best in the workplace. You may think you know how best to conduct feedback, but each member of your team is different and will react different to various coaching methods.
Below are a few suggestions of other questions you can ask your team during performance reviews:
- What has been your best contribution to the dental practice in the last year and what inspired you to take this initiative?
- Do you have any ideas about how we can improve the practice or the way the dental team works together?
- What are some ways that you have successfully addressed office conflicts in the last year?
- Are there any ongoing to unresolved conflicts that need to be addressed?
We know how busy you are as a dentist. It can be difficult to find the time to have productive conversations with the members of your team. Use performance reviews to gain insight into the feelings and views of your employees because they more appreciated they feel, the more smoothly your practice will run.
