This can seem daunting, but it is doable. You just need to be proactive in learning about the ways to increase the growth of your dental practice.

Before you can begin to build a marketing strategy, it’s important that you know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to your dental practice. Once you’re aware of these things, you can begin planning on ways to bring in new patients.

First Steps You Need To Take Before Growth Can Occur

  • Have your dental practice analyzed – The first thing you should consider doing is having your practice analyzed. You can hire professionals to help you learn more about your patient flow, your record keeping, the way your staff works together, and many other critical things.
  • Learn to communicate with patients – Another important thing to begin learning is how to effectively communicate with your patients. Some patients will be friendly, talkative, and they’ll want to get to know you. Others are only in it for the dental checkup, and you’ll find that they just want to get in and out of the office as quickly as possible. The best way to learn how to communicate with each individual patient is by learning to mirror communication styles.
  • Ask how patients found your office – It’s a good idea to find out where your new patients are coming from. You can have your staff ask the new patient how they heard of you when scheduling their first appointment. Another way to find out is to put the question “How did you hear about us?” on the new patient paperwork.
  • Conduct patient satisfaction surveys – Conduct patient satisfaction surveys regularly. These surveys will help you assess what your office and staff are excelling at and what areas could be improved upon.
  • Ask for referrals from existing patients – We know that asking for referrals can feel awkward, but it doesn’t need to. Just let your patients know that you’re always taking new patients and that you’d love a referral! It can also be a good idea to offer a referral incentive program if you don’t already have one.

Once you’re aware of where your dental practice stands, you’ll have all the information needed to design an appropriate marketing plan to bring in new patients.
